Mosel
Ulli Stein has become a cult name in German wine, known for old vines, steep slopes, and a fiercely independent approach to winemaking in one of the world’s great Riesling regions. His dry rosé is always one of my favorite warm-weather wines because it is so different from what most people expect from the Mosel. The 2025 is made mainly from Pinot Noir, with about 20% Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, all fermented and aged in stainless steel to keep the focus on freshness and purity. It is bright, juicy and incredibly refreshing, full of ripe strawberry, red currant and a little wild herb character, finishing with the salty, mouthwatering snap that makes you immediately want another sip. Chill it down and drink it with picnic fare, grilled sausages, roast chicken, summer salads, charcuterie, or anything salty and snacky.
